Miradouro do Largo Padre Pita Ferreira

Just below the parish church of São Gonçalo, a parish created in 1558. The view takes in the Atlantic and the western part of Funchal, spread across its natural amphitheatre. The church holds an image of Our Lady carved in 1914 by Francisco Franco. The square is named after a parish priest born in 1912 in Câmara de Lobos, a recognised defender of the archipelago's artistic heritage, who died in 1963.
