Praia da Maiata (Porto da Cruz)

A beach of black sand mixed with pebbles, in the parish of Porto da Cruz, which surfers from all over the island come for. Several schools and activity companies work here. Access is free, but the official page warns: no support facilities, no lifeguard. The black of the sand cuts against the clear water and the green slopes that shelter the bay.
