Madeira's embroidery museum, attached to the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute, keeps pieces more than 150 years old: embroideries made between the 1860s and 1930s, shown in a recreated romantic 18th- and 19th-century atmosphere with Victorian furniture, mannequins and a reconstructed alcove.
