Miradouro do Porto de Abrigo (Porto Moniz)

Porto Moniz's water-level lookout, on the century-old pier of the fishing harbour: a wide view of the Ribeira da Janela islets, sizeable rock formations standing a few metres off the coast, and of the green mountains of the shore. You can watch the fishermen come in — fishing shapes the town's identity — and cool off at the 18th-century fountain.
