A sculpture by the Madeiran Luís Paixão, unveiled in March 2012 in the Biosphere Garden, created to mark the distinction the municipality received: in June 2011 UNESCO listed Santana as a Biosphere Reserve. The work shows the link between the planet, in the form of a sphere, and the human being, in the form of a female figure; the whole rests on water.
