At the mouth of the Ribeira de São Jorge, a small beach and a freshwater lagoon that reaches 5 m deep in places, three pools, a bar-restaurant, showers and changing rooms, below the green mountains of the north. Direct access to the sea is possible but not advised, especially in rough seas — frequent on this coast. The ruins of the old sugar mills of São Jorge's original settlement are next door; the Cabo Aéreo viewpoint overlooks the site. Not an official bathing water in 2026: no lifeguard service is guaranteed; follow the notices on site and the flags.
