  • 🏛️ Culture

    Solar do Aposento (Ponta Delgada)

A well-off family house from the mid-eighteenth century, at Ponta Delgada, kept in the island's architectural tradition. It was a farming property: the whole ground floor was taken up by stores and wine cellars, next to a press. In the twentieth century a small chapel and extensions near the kitchen were added. The furniture is mostly Madeiran of the nineteenth century — mahogany, til, chestnut — on contemporary English models, the great reference of regional joinery of that century; a second, more eclectic set mixes English and Portuguese pieces of the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. There is also a seventeenth-century oil on canvas of Our Lady with Child, a gilded estofado wooden Saint Anthony from the mid-seventeenth century, and a carved and gilded wooden mirror from a national workshop of the time of Queen Maria I.

  • 🏝️ Bathing spot

    Complexo Balnear da Ponta Delgada

In the small bay of Ponta Delgada, a fishing village in the municipality of São Vicente, right next to the parish church: two seawater pools with water treatment (children and adults), a large sun deck, a bar with terrace, changing rooms, first aid, a car park and access for people with reduced mobility. Rockfill created a beach in a small sheltered bay. Paid entry. Bathing season 2026: 1 June – 30 September, but lifeguard cover not yet confirmed. In a swell follow the flags: red = no bathing.

  • 📍 Sítio

    Ponta Delgada (São Vicente)

A parish of the municipality of São Vicente with a centuries-old fishing tradition, set in a small natural amphitheatre facing the sea, as seen from the Vigia viewpoint. The small bay along the village holds, next to the parish church, the paid bathing complex with two seawater pools and its beach sheltered by rockfill. Ponta Delgada is also a place of devotion: the Senhor Bom Jesus festivities draw pilgrims who, by tradition, gather on their way back on the first Sunday of September at Chão dos Louros.
